S. Hazen Guthrie debuted her first book of poetry in 2024, we held our breath, the birds and I. Her new book small … poetry of a certain amount of faith will release in 2026, published by Finishing Line Press.  Her poetry appears in the new anthology The Space Between Light and Dark, WLRH, June 2025; and she is a contributor to Out Loud Huntsville’s 2023-2025 Year in Review anthologies.  Most recently, Guthrie produced/directed Real Men Can Name a Kitten, the poetry of Alan Burkett, Aubrey Fannin, Grace Dellis Wyatt, and S. Hazen Guthrie, a Reader’s Theatre at the Signals Museum, Huntsville, Alabama.  Ms. Guthrie performs Shakespeare, contemporary and classical poetry, and her original work internationally.  With pianist and husband, Ron Guthrie, she performs major works of music and spoken word – Poulenc’s Babar the Little Elephant, 2024-25 and the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay, 2023. Appearing at the Alabama Center for the Arts, Ms. Guthrie was featured in the 2024-25 Writer’s Series, Athens State University and Calhoun Community College.  Guthrie  teaches for the Summer Writing Summit, Athens State University, 2023-2025. She is the author of Shakespeare in the Classroom, The City Shakespeare Projects, and The Teacher’s Poetry Companion.
