A Poem by Theresa Hamman

Point Lobos

We leaked out

to a world of choppy water,

and stood

tall on a scarp

watching the waves surge,

rain spray

until the sea dropped

back and away

and even though

we were bereft,

even though

we were washed out

we became salt and air.
