A Poem by Angela Goodrich

The Spider’s Thread

The spider’s thread lit by sun strands setting and

drifting to late bird song, a path between two worlds

my patio chair and the pin oak tree,

this poem and the spider now gone.

And, it shimmers as journeys do,

into a vocational call to move forward and

Leave a small witness of the effort we make to live.

This poem is from the chapbook Meditations on Rising by Angela Goodrich (Finishing Line Press), and can be found at https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/meditations-on-rising-by-angela-goodrich/

As a professional, I am dedicated to public libraries and the power of welcoming spaces. As the Chief Operating Officer of the Urban Libraries Council, I work every day to advocate for leaders to invest in the right to literacy, the power of community and access to stories, skills and information. Public libraries are an essential asset, an American innovation and our shared compass to navigate this complex human experience.
Writing poetry invites and embraces the opportunity to quiet and build awareness of the many forces that shape our conciseness and choices. This collection was built from those moments as I exhale lessons learned from both joy and hardship, wonder and grief. As a writer, I return again and again to the path of a poet which is a journey into compassion and clarity. Meditations on Rising is my first Chapbook and part of a larger collection
