OVER THE EDGE
A shattered glass is
the making of a plural and
the perfect excuse to think
what it means
to have an odd number
of glasses in your cupboard.
The gap between a cup
and a glass becomes large
like the spaces between
the fragments are larger
than absence.
A shattered glass is
not a nuisance
to be cleaned up.
Shards carry an edge
and the risk of losing
is all over the floor and I
am trying to notice
how each piece reconfigures
the story that started
in my hand and dropped
into a plot.
