A Poem by Margaret Lee

Water Song for Sappho

Become my voice.

         lyrics

Your          rode                    currents

                        memory

then

         settled

                     in the pith

                                       of green

papyrus sprung

                           from river waters

                                                         of your island home

                                    flowing into

            my inner well.

I dive

            for

                  missing pieces.
