A Poem by Susan Stetson Renault

The day I reminded myself:

you be the music for someone

who is tired

Blessed is the one who travels under leafy shade

and gives her peaceful coolness to another who is parched.

….

Blessed is the one who hears a bird and her smile is like a song

for another who is tired.

…..

Blessed is she whose heart

has fluttered on butterfly wings and gives her story to

another who has forgotten how to dance.

…..

This poem is from the chapbook Looking for Poems on the Swamp Rabbit Trail by Susan Stetson Renault (Finishing Line Press), and can be found at https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/looking-for-poems-on-the-swamp-rabbit-trail-by-susan-stetson-renault/

Few things fill Sue Renault‘s heart more than the sights, sounds, and woody fragrances along Greenville, South Carolina’s Swamp Rabbit Trail. Sue (aka the the Swamp Rabbit Trail Poet) and her bicycle Bluebelle, look for moments of gladness and poetry along their cycling paths. Sometimes these poems spring forth already formed. Like answered prayers. Sue invites you to enter her collection expectantly and to discover peace in your  own pilgrimage.
