A Poem by Catherine Norr

On the Road to Mountain Cabin

walking is best

along the rutted road

awareness alters as you pass through the veil

between noise and silence

even as beech leaves rustle

and chicadees flutter

the tangible quiet thickens

to a surrounding quilted cloud

tracks and markings left behind whisper

history of neighbors

beaver rabbit   bear   deer

This poem is from the chapbook GOAT FARM ROAD Poems from the Adirondacks (Finishing Line Press), and is available now at https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/goat-farm-road-poems-from-the-adirondacks-by-catherine-norr/
