A Poem by Carol L. Deering

A FLURRY OF HORSES

The clouds are molting. Feathers

tickle the horses, who can’t stand

still. A soft nicker of sun

falls through the frosted spray.

The horses leap, swing their heads,

then jog the periphery of joy.
